What does SQHM on a beer glass stand for

A mark that looks like “SQHM” on a beer glass should be checked as a possible maker’s mark, rather than expanded into a phrase. We have not found reliable evidence for the explanation “Shaker Quality Half Mugs” previously given on this page, and have withdrawn it. The letters alone do not establish the glass’s capacity, manufacturing method or suitability for a particular drink.

Could the mark be SAHM?

SAHM is an established name in drinking-glass design and decoration. A historical Slovak Metrological Institute document for the Alfonsa serving glass identifies SAHM s.r.o. as its manufacturer. This provides a documented manufacturer to compare against a difficult-to-read mark; it does not authenticate an individual glass from a typed transcription.

Compare a clear photograph of the actual mark with the maker’s documentation. A stylised letter can be misread, especially in a small embossed or printed logo. Without a photograph and a matching catalogue or drawing, we cannot confidently identify your particular glass.

Separate the logo from the capacity marking

Look for a number, its unit and any separate fill line. Record those details exactly as they appear. Do not infer a 16–18 oz capacity from the letters “SQHM”, or assume that every similarly shaped glass has the same usable serving volume.

The historical Alfonsa document concerns a specific 0.2 L model. Its details must not be applied to other glasses, and it is not evidence of current certification for an unidentified glass or for Reihey products.

How to identify an existing beer glass

  1. Photograph the complete glass, the base and the mark in good light.
  2. Note the exact lettering, any model number, capacity text and fill line.
  3. Record the height and rim diameter, keeping measured dimensions separate from the marked capacity.
  4. Compare these details with the original supplier’s catalogue or ask the identified manufacturer to confirm the model.

Choosing glassware for a wholesale order

If you are selecting new glassware, start with the shape, serving volume and presentation you need, rather than an uncertain mark on an existing item. For a matching enquiry, provide photographs and the dimensions above, together with your order quantity, delivery destination and decoration artwork.

Browse the Reihey wholesale glassware catalogue for available styles, or review our glass customisation options. These links help with a new sourcing project; they do not imply that Reihey manufactured, can authenticate or stocks an exact replacement for a SAHM-marked glass.
