A cream jar RFQ often starts with a size and a photo. That is useful for choosing a visual direction, but it leaves key quotation questions open. A clear request identifies the jar body, complete closure, intended fill, decoration and packing configuration. It also states which details need a sample or test before production approval.

Use those pages to shortlist an appearance, then request the exact SKU drawing and closure parts for your project.
1. Separate fill weight from container volume
Tell the supplier the target net fill in grams and the formula type. Ask for the jar’s brimful volume and recommended working fill in millilitres, with the measurement method. A 30 g cream fill is not automatically a 30 ml cavity: formula density and desired headspace affect the result. Have your filling partner test a physical sample for fill level, access and handling before approving a size.
2. Specify the entire closure
Two jars can have the same visible cap finish but different inner components. State whether the quoted set must include a cap, inner disc, liner or separate seal film. Ask for a photo or sample of each component and a single itemized quotation for the complete configuration. If your formula or distribution route requires a particular seal performance, agree on the test method and acceptance criteria with your filling partner. A product photograph cannot prove that result.
For a multi-size program, ask whether every size shares the same neck finish and closure. If not, list the cap and inner parts for each variant separately.
3. Confirm decoration and market requirements
Send the final artwork and identify the requested decoration method, such as direct printing, label or coating. Request a drawing showing the usable decoration area for the exact jar size. State the destination market and identify who approves the finished artwork and checks local labeling requirements. A generic product page does not establish that a proposed retail layout is compliant.
4. Include packing and project terms
Specify the first order quantity, expected annual volume, quantity per inner pack and carton, protective dividers, carton marks, destination and requested delivery term. Ask whether the quoted price includes the complete jar-and-cap set, decoration, samples and packing. This makes competing offers easier to compare.

- Jar dimensions, weight and brimful/working volume requested.
- Cap material and finish, thread or fit, inner disc, liner and seal film requirements.
- Artwork, decoration method and approved print or label area.
- Sample checks, test criteria and final artwork approver.
- Order quantity, packing configuration, destination and delivery term.
Approve the actual combination
Request a sample of the specific jar size and complete closure you intend to order. Let your filling partner assess the set with the actual formula, then approve the decorated sample or production artwork separately. Record the accepted jar drawing, cap components, color reference, packing method and any agreed test result in the purchase specification.
